ABOUT THIS JOB: Candidates with ESL/TOEFL teaching experience preferred. Candidates with teaching credentials from the United States will be given additional consideration. Our desired candidate will be available to arrive or begin classes in 1st Feb. Teachers currently residing in Korea will be given priority however all individuals and couples are welcome to apply.
We are inviting all ESL/TOEFL educators to join the Nacel Open Door team http://www.nacelopendoor.org/. Since 1964, Nacel has given students the opportunity to live, work and learn in different cultures.  Here in Icheon, we give students the opportunity to study a traditional liberal arts American curriculum to obtain a fully accredited American High School diploma in order to prepare them for post-secondary education in the United States and abroad. Our current vacancy is for a specialized educator in the above mentioned disciplines to teach daytime classes.

JOB SCHEDULE: One year contract with renewal options.

40 working hours per week, 30 maximum contract instructional hours, Monday through Friday, with prep and teaching. National holidays, some American holidays and all Saturdays and Sundays off. Approximately 6 weeks of paid vacation per contract term based on the institute’s schedule.

Working Schedule: 9:00 pm to 5:00 pm; teachers receive one hour for lunch and one additional hour during the work schedule for preparation.

JOB DUTIES
Normal teaching duties of lesson preparation and record keeping of student progress reports and evaluations. Correcting and grading of student work, attending staff meetings, and participation in teacher training workshops. All staff meetings and workshops take place during normal working hours…you are not asked to come in early, or stay late! We require professionalism from our staff. We offer traditional Math, Science, Social Science and Language Arts education during our daytime hours. We are seeking a professional ESL/TOEFL instructor for intensive English classes.  

JOB PAYMENT
Monthly salary starts from 2.8 to 3.0 million won depending on qualifications. Overtime opportunities are provided at an hourly rate of 20,000 won. Summer and winter vacation periods plus all national holidays. Prepaid roundtrip airfare provided.  An electronic ticket will be sent to the teacher before departure.  One-month severance paid after successful completion of contract. Unused sick day bonus of 400,000 won.

MEDICAL INSURANCE, PENSION, TAX
Korean National Health Insurance and National Pension coverage are mandatory programs paid into by the employer/employee; 50% is paid by the employer, 50% by the employee. Income and residence taxes are deducted according to Korean Tax Law based on the level of salary. Any future adjustments will be made according to changes in Korean Tax Law. Monthly deductions are clearly itemized on payroll receipts.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Accommodation provided: a large one or two room Faculty apartment on Campus or out of campus apartment. On-Campus option will receive 400,000 won per month and free of utilities and meals; Both accommodations are fully furnished apartments include: bed, sheets, pillow, comforter, desk, chair, kitchen table, kitchen equipment, refrigerator, gas range, microwave, washing machine, telephone, TV, internet access, window blinds and more. Larger apartments are provided to couples. All utilities (TV, internet & phone, electric, gas, water, management) are paid by the teacher. (On-campus option is not responsible for utility) Initial kitchen and bath amenities for the first week will be provided. We will also buy some groceries for your first week so you don’t have to worry about shopping!

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
B.A. or B.S. degree holders, or above, with Middle or Secondary Level teaching certification is preferred, but not required, for all Native English speakers. In addition, qualified applicants must possess the ability to complete all E2 visa processing regulations. A love for kids and being a team player is mandatory. Preferences will be given to: M.A. degrees, B.A. or B.S. of Education, BS in Science, Middle Level or Secondary Level certified teachers in all content areas. F2, F4 applicants are also welcome to apply
